Police Lay Charges - Aggravated Robbery - Palmerston 19 August

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 17-year-old male in relation to an aggravated robbery of a vehicle over the weekend.

Around 9:30pm on Saturday, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that a male had approached a female attempting to drive her vehicle from a carpark in Bellamack.

The offender allegedly entered the driver's side of the car and closed the door. The victim has allegedly accelerated the vehicle, which collided with a nearby pillar.

Nearby patrons at a licenced venue came to her aid and apprehended the offender.

Police attended and arrested the offender who was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital for assessment.

He has since been charged with:

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Aggravated assault
  • Drive under the influence of drugs
  • Drive unlicensed
  • Careless driving
  • Drive motor vehicle without consent

He was remanded in custody to appear in court today.
