Northern Territory Police have charged a man with child abuse offences in Darwin over the weekend.
Police will alleged that the 37-year-old man abused a 13-year-old girl, who was known to him, multiple times on Saturday 14 December 2024 at a residence in Darwin.
Detectives attended the residence on Saturday evening and arrested the man.
He has now been charged with:
- 2 x Sexual Intercourse with Child Under 16yo
- 1 x Indecent act with child under 16yo
- 1 x Grooming to engage in sexual activity with child under 16yo
He was remanded in custody and due to appear before Darwin Local Court tomorrow.
Detective Superintendent Matt Akers said, "This is absolutely disgusting behaviour from this individual. I commend the brave young girl that spoke up, allowing us to quickly remove this offender from the community and put him before the courts."
