Police Lay Charges - Disturbance In Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged a man after a disturbance in Anula overnight.

Around 8pm, emergency services received multiple reports of a large disturbance on Union Terrace involving up to 20 people fighting in the street.

Reports that some were armed with machetes, and a rifle, were also received. Police deployed to the area and the group quickly dispersed on foot.

Police identified a person of interest and a short time later attended a residence on Elsinore Court, Anula, where they arrested an 18-year-old man without incident. A stolen Air rifle was seized from the location.

He has now been charged with:

  • 3 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Going armed in public
  • 3 x Point firearm at a person
  • 1 x Trespass
  • 1 x Possess schedule 2 less than trafficable drug
  • 1 x Unlawfully possess property
  • 1 x Possess firearm without a license
  • 1 x Possess prohibited firearm
  • 1 x Fail to meet storage requirements

He remains in custody and is expected to appear in Darwin Local Court at a later date.
