Northern Territory Police have charged 2 people in relation to online scam activity across Australia over the past 2 years.
Members from Cybercrime unit arrested a 38-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman in Millner yesterday in relation to the online fraud offences.
The 38-year-old was charged with 39 counts of obtaining a benefit by deception and was remanded in custody to appear before Darwin local court today.
The 29-year-old was also charged with 39 counts of obtained a benefit by deception and bailed to appear before Darwin Local court on the 9 January 2024.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant David Buganey said "This was an extensive operation by the members from the Cyber Crime Unit and online scams remain one of our largest priorities when it comes to cybercrime.
"We are urging the public to remain vigilant as we see an increase in scamming activities around the holiday season."
