On Monday 25 November 2019, Drug and Organised Crime Division detectives executed a search warrant at a rural property in Howard Springs as part of Operation Glencoe, targeting an upper level drug supplier.
During the search warrant, police seized 32 pounds of cannabis which arrived in the Northern Territory from interstate concealed in a Styrofoam block, a hydroponics set up with 23 cannabis plants, a high powered unregistered bolt action rifle and a small amount of ecstasy. Police also seized a large flatbed truck that was used to transport the cannabis to the property.
A 57-year-old male was arrested and charged with:
- Supply schedule 2 dangerous drug - Commercial quantity
- Possess schedule 2 dangerous drug- Commercial quantity
- Cultivate cannabis - Commercial quantity
- Possess firearm without licence/permit
- Unsecured ammunition and firearm offences
- Possess unregistered firearm
A 32-year-old male was arrested and charged with:
- Cultivate traffickable quantity of cannabis
- Possess traffickable quantity of cannabis material, resin and oil
- Possess less than traffickable cannabis seeds
- Possess schedule 1 dangerous drug - Less than traffickable quantity
Both men were remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
