Police lay charges - Reckless driving - Palmerston

Northern Territory Police have charged a 16-year-old female youth with multiple traffic offences after she crashed into a shopping centre in a stolen vehicle at Palmerston yesterday.

In the early hours of the morning, the girl allegedly stole a Lexus from a Darwin City apartment block and drove the vehicle to Palmerston.

At 4:45am, she lost control of the vehicle at a roundabout and mounted the curb before crashing into a shopping centre on Temple Terrace. She fled the scene and was arrested a short time later.

Strike Force Trident detectives took carriage of the investigation and have since charged her with:

• Use vehicle without consent

• Drive vehicle recklessly

• Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed

• Not stop after crash

She was remanded to appear in court today.
