Police Lay Charges - Robberies In Katherine

The Northern Territory police Force have arrested multiple youths in relation to recent service station robberies in Katherine.

On the 21 and 26 of January, aggravated robberies were committed at service stations which involved multiple youths throwing rocks and other items, entering the stores and stealing cigarettes and money.

On the 28 January, multiple youths threw rocks at a security guard inside a service station, hitting him in the head and causing injuries. On this occasion the youths were unable to gain entry once the security guard managed to secure the door. Shortly after the incident, Katherine general duties police located and arrested a 13-year-old.

On the 29 January, Strike Force Cerberus located and arrested a further three offenders aged 10, 12 and 15. Each of the three youth were charged with offending from all three incidents.

On the 30th January 2025, Katherine Police Strike Force Cerberus located and arrested another 12-year-old, who was charged with the offending on the 26 and 28 of January.

All the youth charged are due to appear in court at later dates.

Strike Force Cerberus is continuing to investigate these incidents and is urging anyone with information to make contact on 131 444. Anonymous reports can also be made through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 444.

This behaviour is unacceptable and community safety remains the highest priority for the NTPF.
