Strike Force Vulcan detectives have charged a 51-year-old man with 17 offences as the result of an investigation into a number of fires lit across multiple suburbs, including Cockburn Central, Jandakot, Yangebup and Spearwood.
The fires he is alleged to have lit are:
• 28/01/2023: verge side fire along Cockburn Road, Henderson
• 20/01/2023: verge side fire along Angus Avenue, Spearwood
• 17/01/2023: verge side fire along Bloodwood Circle, South Lake
• 14/01/2023: verge side fire along Stock Road, Lake Coogee
• 13/01/2023: verge side fire along Russell Road, Henderson
• 09/01/2023: verge side fire along Stock Road, Spearwood
• 06/01/2023: verge side fire along Verna Court, Cockburn Central
• 04/01/2023: bushfire along Fanstone Avenue, Beeliar
• 03/01/2023: verge side fire along Simper Road, Yangebup
• 26/12/2022: verge side fire along Prinsep Road, Jandakot
• 20/12/2022: verge side fire along Salpietro Road, Spearwood
• 20/12/2022: verge side fire along Mudlark Way, Yangebup
• 19/12/2022: verge side fire along Imlah Court, Jandakot
• 18/12/2022: verge side fire along Bloodwood Circle, South Lake
• 12/12/2022: bushfire along Brianne Lane, Cockburn Central
• 12/12/2022: verge side fire along The Lakes Boulevard, Jandakot
• 10/12/2022: verge side fire along Verna Court along, Cockburn Central
The 51-year-old Yangebup man has been charged with 17 counts of Wilfully Light or Cause to be Lit a Fire Likely to Injure or Damage. He was refused bail and is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 10 February 2023.
The maximum penalty for this offence is 20 years imprisonment.
