Police have charged a man following the alleged murder of a woman in The Gap yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to a residence on Chestnut Place around 4.20pm.
Upon arrival, police located a 79-year-old The Gap woman with a fatal stab wound.
She was declared deceased at the scene.
A crime scene was declared, and investigations commenced.
A 40-year-old Victorian man was subsequently located at Brisbane Airport by Australian Federal Police around 6.25pm and he was taken into custody.
It will be alleged the woman and man were known to each other.
The 40-year-old Victorian man has been charged with murder (domestic violence offence).
He has been remanded in custody and is due before Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 25.
