Arson Squad detectives have charged a 33-year-old man as a result of their investigations into two incidents that occurred in Hocking on 27 July 2020.
It is alleged the man was involved in a traffic crash on East Road near Copenhagen Drive and ran from the scene.
It is further alleged he set fire to a house on Welstead Way which caused an estimated $100,000 damage and fled the scene in a vehicle stolen from the home.
The man from Heathridge has been charged with:-
• Two counts of Criminal Damage by Fire;
• Driver Fail to Stop – Property Damage;
• Driver Fail to Report an Incident in which Property was Damaged;
• No Authority to Drive;
• Trespass;
• Being Armed in a Way that May Cause Fear;
• Common Assault;
• Home Burglary and Commit;
• Stealing; and
• Steal Motor Vehicle.
He is next due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on 28 August 2020.
