Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to an assault on a police officer in Elliott overnight.
At around midnight, police received reports that an officer had been assaulted while responding to a disturbance at North Camp.
The officer was conveyed to the Elliot clinic where he received treatment for facial injuries.
A 29-year-old male was arrested this morning and is expected to be charged with assaulting a member of the police force later today.
Superintendent Mark Grieve said, "Northern Territory Police take a zero tolerance approach to assaults on our members.
"Our members work closely with the community to resolve any conflicts that arise. To be assaulted while attempting to calm a disturbance and reduce the risk of community members being injured is unacceptable.
"The force of the blow caused our officer to lose consciousness and he is being checked for facial fractures. The alleged offender will be put before the courts."
