Northern Territory Police Force have arrested a 21-year-old male in relation to multiple domestic violence incidents that occurred in Berrimah overnight.
Around 6:50pm, Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of a Suzuki Swift driving erratically through Palmerston and allegedly attempting to strike a female with the vehicle.
Police conducted patrols in the area, but neither the vehicle nor the victim were initially located.
Later, around 8:40 pm, police received reports of a disturbance in Pinelands, where a female member of the public observed an altercation between a male and a female on the Stuart Highway. Acting on concern for the victim's safety, the driver stopped her Toyota Prado to assist the female victim, who accepted transport.
The male offender, armed with an edged weapon, attempted to forcibly remove the victim from the Prado. He then pursued the vehicle in his Suzuki Swift, allegedly trying to force it off the road while driving through Berrimah.
Police coordinated a response, successfully locating the female victim and the Prado driver in Knuckey's Camp. Officers apprehended the Suzuki Swift nearby, and the offender was arrested without incident.
The offender and victim are known to each other.
The 21-year-old offender has since been charged with multiple offences including Driving unlicenced, Dangerous driving, Recklessly endangering serious harm, Aggravated assault and Going armed in public.
