Northern Territory Police have arrested a 43-year-old man in relation to an incident overnight.
Shortly before midnight, St John Ambulance received a report of a woman who had been allegedly assaulted with an edged weapon by her partner.
The 41-year-old woman suffered serious injuries to her neck and was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital. She is now in a stable condition.
The man had fled the scene before authorities arrived. He was arrested this morning and taken to Palmerston Watch House.
Members from the Domestic and Family Violence Section are investigating the matter. The man is expected to be charged later today.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Michael Budge said, "This was a horrific incident and if the woman hadn't receive medical treatment when she did, she would have likely died."
