Police Make Arrest - Domestic Violence In Alice Springs 16 December

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in relation to two domestic violence incidents that occurred in Alice Springs early this morning.

Around 2.30am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre (JESCC) received a report that a 33-year-old woman had been assaulted by a man known to her at a residence in Gillen.

The offender allegedly entered the residence and armed himself with a blunt weapon, using it to cause property damage. He proceeded to enter a bedroom where the woman was sleeping with her 2-year-old child and allegedly physically assaulted her, resulting in injuries to her face and arm. Occupants of the residence intervened, and the offender fled the scene.

The offender proceeded to attend a nearby residence on Bloomfield Street, where he allegedly physically assaulted a 29-year-old woman who was also known to him.

Police responded and arrested the man without incident.

Both victims were conveyed separately to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment for their injuries.

The 25-year-old man has since been charged with Aggravated assault, Damage to property, Aggravated burglary, and Armed with an offensive weapon at night.
