Police Make Arrest - Firearm Offences In Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to an illegal firearm seized in Alice Springs today.

Earlier today, members from the Fugitive Taskforce, Strike Force Viper, and Southern Investigations, executed a search warrant at an address in Larapinta after receiving information. During the search a handgun and a quantity of ammunition was located.

A 28-year-old man was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. He currently awaits charging for a number of firearm, drug, and traffic related offences. He was also in breach of a suspended sentence.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Marcus Becker said "Illegal firearms pose a significant risk to our community and the Northern Territory Police Force will remove them at every opportunity.
