As a result of their investigation into an incident that occurred in Ridgewood on Saturday 21 January 2023, Joondalup Detectives have charged a 20-year-old man with Attempt to Unlawfully Kill.
It will be alleged about 10.30pm, the charged man was with a group of friends at Ashbourne Park in Ridgewood when he became involved in a verbal altercation with a 27-year-old man that turned into a physical altercation.
During the physical altercation, the victim allegedly received stab wounds to his chest and stomach. The laceration to his stomach damaged internal organs. The victim was conveyed to hospital where he underwent surgery before being placed in an induced coma for four days. It is anticipated he will need to remain in hospital for several months.
The 20-year-old man from Ellenbrook has been charged with:
• One count of Attempt to Unlawfully Kill.
He is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court today, 27 January 2023.
