Police Make Arrest - Sexual Assault - Palmerston

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to an alleged sexual assault in Palmerston last week.

On the afternoon of Thursday 16 August 2024, it is alleged a woman was sexually assaulted by a 52-year-old man who was known to her, in the vicinity of Roystonea Avenue, Yarrawonga

The victim managed to flee the assault and seek refuge at a nearby business, before contacting police.

The victim was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for assessment.

A suspect was identified shortly after the incident and detectives have been actively searching for him since Thursday.

A 52-year-old man was arrested today and currently remains in custody with charges expected to be laid later tonight.
