The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested two males in relation to an aggravated assault that occurred in Katherine early this morning.
Around 12am, police received reports of an unconscious male on Katherine Terrace who appeared to have been assaulted.
It is alleged that two males approached the 43-year-old victim and assaulted him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Two males aged 20 and 25 were later arrested and are expected to be charged later today.
Detective Senior Sergeant Byron May said, "Police have reviewed the CCTV footage and identified several people who witnessed this unprovoked attack.
"The victim is fortunate not to have sustained serious injuries from this sickening assault.
"Detectives will continue to investigate, and we urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference NTP2500025665."
