Northern Territory Police have arrested 13 offenders after two vehicles were stolen in Alice Springs yesterday.
At 5:30pm, an unlawful entry was reported at an organisation on Percy Court, Alice Springs and a Toyota Hilux and Hyundai Imax were stolen from the premises.
The vehicles were observed driving dangerously throughout the CBD and surrounding suburbs, intentionally swerving into the path of police vehicles.
Strike Force Viper, the Dog Operations Unit and members from general duties, Operation Drina and Crime all deployed.
At 10pm, tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed on the Hyundai at Schwartz Crossing. Five youths, aged between 8 and 12, were taken into custody without incident.
A short time later, tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed on the Hilux on Tuncks Road.
Eight offenders fled from the vehicle into the nearby Todd River. Southern Dog Operations members with Patrol Dogs Freddy and Huey deployed and arrested all eight offenders, aged between 10 and 18, without incident.
Detectives from Strike Force Viper are continuing investigations with charges expected later today.
