Police Nab Suspects in Alice Springs Car Theft

The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested four youths in relation to a stolen motor vehicle in Alice Springs last night.

Around 7:30pm, police received reports of a vehicle being stolen whilst the owner was attending a restaurant on Gap Road. The vehicle was observed by police CCTV operators and tracked using the owners iPad that was left in the car.

Police responded and successfully deployed tyre deflation devices on Schwartz Crescent causing the vehicle to come to a stop near Charles Creek Camp. The four youths abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

All four youths, a 12-year-old male and three females aged 13, 14 and 15-years-old were arrested nearby and conveyed into the care of a responsible adult.

They will all be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.
