Police Officer Charged Over Weapons Offence

A sergeant from State Emergencies and Support Command has been charged following an internal investigation.

The male officer has been charged with one count each of possess prohibited weapon and unauthorised disclosure of police information.

It is alleged the incidents occurred while the officer was both off and on duty in 2023, in Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

The 58-year-old has been charged on summons to appear before a magistrate's court at a later date.
