A police officer has been struck by a vehicle at Ucolta, in the State's mid north, this afternoon.
Police were attempting to stop a vehicle on the Barrier Highway, Ucolta at 3pm when it struck and injured a police officer.
The officer was taken to the Peterborough Hospital for medical treatment.
The vehicle allegedly left the scene and was tracked by PolAir as it continued south on the Barrier Highway.
About 3.45pm, the suspect was safely taken into custody without further incident near the Barrier Highway, about 1.6 kilometres north of Hallett.
Motorists are advised to expect delays on the Barrier Highway, Ucolta. Traffic flow at the crime scene is restricted to one lane for north and southbound until Major Crash investigators can attend and examine the scene of the collision.
