Police Officer Struck By Stolen Car In Nunawading

Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a police officer was struck by a stolen car in Nunawading this morning.

Police were called to reports a stolen car had been spotted in a hotel car park, near the intersection of Burwood Highway and Springvale Road in, about 2.40am.

It is understood the white Honda Civic hatch was stolen from outside a property on Langley Street in Ringwood East.

Police cordoned off the car park and attempted to stop the Honda from leaving the area.

A male Senior Constable was setting up a tyre deflation device at the Springvale Road exit to the car park when a man returned to the stolen car.

As the man drove off from the car park, his vehicle struck the 27-year-old officer.

The officer was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where he remains with serious upper body injuries.

The white Honda was located abandoned a short time later on Tucker Road in Vermont.

The driver remains outstanding, and the investigation is ongoing.
