Police have closed a 10-month drug operation targeting the supply and distribution of cocaine, methamphetamines, MDMA and cannabis across Brisbane's bayside.
Operation Tango Citron targeted drug networks linked to the Comancheros Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) with police arresting 42 people on 428 charges, including trafficking in dangerous drugs serious and organised crime and trafficking in dangerous drugs criminal organisation charges.
Investigators from the Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch and Tactical Crime Squad, with the assistance of officers from the Organised Crime Gangs Group, Dog Squad, forensic specialists and regional detectives from South East Region, North Coast Region and Central Region executed 26 warrants from November 21 - 22.
During this week's operation closure, police executed search warrants across South East and Central Queensland including at Broadbeach Waters, Gaven, Tamborine, Rochdale, Steiglitz, Cleveland, Holland Park, Capalaba, Caboolture, Mount Nathan and Rockhampton.
Total seizures during the course of the operation included: 113kg of cannabis, 134grams of cocaine and 84grams of methylamphetamine, $640,000 cash and 13 weapons comprising of five handguns and eight rifles.
The seized drugs have an estimated street value of $1 million.
Six vehicles that police will allege were stolen or used during an offence were also seized including two cars, a motorcycle, a truck, a trailer, and jet ski, with a total estimated value of $230,000.
Police will allege the principal offender, a 33-year-old Cannon Hill man and member of the Comanchero Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG), engaged in trafficking and supply of dangerous drugs along with a network of associates.
The man was arrested and charged with six offences including two counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs serious organised crime, one count of carrying a weapon in public, and one count of supplying dangerous drugs. He is due to appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court on January 20.
Police will further allege the syndicate transported drugs into Queensland via heavy vehicles, for distribution throughout South East and Central Queensland.
A further nine people were arrested and conjointly charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs. They are:
- A 33-year-old Tarragindi man charged with 25 offences including three counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs serious organised crime, eight counts of supplying dangerous drugs and weapon offences. He is due to appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court today.
- A 32-year-old Wynnum man charged with eight offences including two counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs serious organised crime, two counts of possessing property having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, and four counts of supplying dangerous drugs. He is due to appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on January 20.
- A 24-year-old Mount Gravatt East man charged with 17 offences including two counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs serious organised crime, six counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count of receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking or supplying. He is due to appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court January 20.
- A 46-year-old Bracken Ridge man charged with 12 offences including two counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs serious organised crime, four counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing property used in the commission of a crime, and once count of possessing property obtained from trafficking. He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 12.
- A 47-year-old Mackenzie man charged with 11 offences including two counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs serious organised crime, three counts of supplying dangerous drug and weapon offences. He is due to appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on December 6.
- A 41-year-old Gaven man charged with 11 offences including two counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs serious organised crime and eight count of supplying dangerous drugs. He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court November 22.
- A 37-year-old Holland Park West man charged with 14 offences including two counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs serious organised crime and one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs. He is due to appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court today (November 23).
- A 37-year-old Capalaba man charged with 158 offences including two counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs serious organised crime, one count of trafficking dangerous drugs, one count of producing dangerous drug, 130 counts of supplying dangerous drugs and weapon offences. He is due to appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on January 20.
- A 46-year-old Mango Hill man charged with 9 offences including two counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs serious organised crime, two counts of supplying dangerous drugs and weapon offences. He is due to appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court today.
