A police operation is underway in Sydney's west, as officers from State Crime Command's Raptor Squad continue their investigations into the shooting of an OMCG member this week.
The operation will take place between 7am and 9:30am today (Friday 29 July 2022) and will include Raptor Squad officers conducting a recanvas of the areas around The Driftway, Bonner Road, and Eaton Street in Agnes Banks for potential witnesses or items of interest.
The operation forms part of investigations into the shooting of a 31-year-old man, who presented to Hawkesbury Hospital with non life-threatening gun-shot wounds, about 9.30am on Tuesday (26 July 2022).
Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command were notified and spoke with the man – who is a known Rebels OMCG member, before seizing his vehicle for forensic examination.
A short time later, a crime scene was established outside a premises in Bounty Crescent, Bligh Park.
A second crime scene was also declared on Bonnor Road, following the discovery of a burnt-out vehicle, which has now been identified as a bright red/orange Ford Mustang.
That vehicle was also seized for forensic examination.
Raptor Squad officers continue their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding how the man came to be shot, and are appealing for anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Agnes Banks between 7am and 9.30am on Tuesday morning to come forward.
In particular, detectives believe someone may have seen the distinctive red/orange Ford Mustang in the Bligh Park or Agnew Banks areas around the time of the incident.
Anyone who was in the with dashcam footage those areas yesterday morning who have recorded footage of a vehicle matching the description are urged to contact Raptor Squad officers via Crime Stoppers.
