Police Operation Underway - Hunter Valley

A police operation in the Hunter Valley is underway as officers work to locate a man believed to have fallen down a mine shaft.

About 12.45pm (Tuesday 17 September 2024), emergency services were called to Dry Creek Road, Ellalong, following reports of a workplace incident.

At the scene, police were told that a man had fallen into a decommissioned mine shaft.

Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District remain on scene and are being assisted by Police Rescue, NSW Ambulance, and Fire and Rescue NSW.

The operation is expected to be ongoing for some time, and further information will be released when available.
