Police Probe Aggravated Break-In at Wallsend

An investigation is underway following an aggravated break and enter which left a man injured in Newcastle earlier today.

About 2.30am (Wednesday 29 January 2025), emergency services were called to a hotel on Nelson Street, Wallsend.

Police have been told that a group of men had forced entry to the business before stealing keys and attempting to steal cash.

As they were leaving, a man – who intervened – was assaulted before the group left in a dark-coloured sedan.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District attended and found a 25-year-old man with a laceration to his head.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident is underway.
