Initial investigations indicate shortly before midnight, a 23-year-old man was travelling on a motorised scooter on Marshall Road through Tarragindi when he stopped along Kuring Gai Avenue.
A silver vehicle pulled up behind him and the occupants exited the vehicle and approached the man, threatening him with a machete.
The man fled the scene on foot to a nearby service station.
He was not physically injured.
The group stole the man's scooter and fled the scene in the two vehicles.
Later that night around 1.40am, a 29-year-old Rochedale man was travelling on a motorbike along Gardiner Road through Rochedale when the same silver vehicle pulled up next to him.
The occupants of the vehicle struck at him with a machete.
The man continued on towards a fast-food restaurant on Miles Platting Road and the group followed him.
They threatened the man and demanded his keys.
The man complied and the group stole his motorbike, leaving the scene in the two vehicles.
The man did not sustain any injuries.
Police are appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam vision of either incident to come forward.
