Police probe assault, affray following crash in Windale

An investigation is underway following an assault and affray at Windale, in the state’s Lake Macquarie region, earlier this week, NSW Police say.

About 7.40pm on Tuesday (14 November 2017), a Silver Mazda RX8 crashed into a parked car on Merrigum Street.

When the driver, a 51-year-old man, got out of the vehicle he was surrounded and assaulted by a group of males. He managed to flee the scene and wasn’t injured.

Police were alerted and officers from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command attended and spoke to the driver.

Details of the assault were not disclosed to police at the time of their arrival.

After speaking to further witnesses and viewing footage of the incident, police have commenced inquiries into the assault and affray.

Investigators are appealing for public assistance to identify those involved.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
