Police Probe Assault, Chase in Alice Springs

The Northern Territory Police Force are calling for information following an aggravated assault and pursuit in Alice Springs on Friday evening.

At around 7:30pm, police received reports of two females fighting at a residence in Braitling. Upon arrival, officers located a 39-year-old female who had been struck on the back of the head with a rock.

The victim was transported by St John Ambulance to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.

The alleged offender, a 23-year-old female, fled the scene prior to police arrival in a silver Ford Territory accompanied by a 19-year-old male.

A short time later, police sighted the vehicle and attempted to apprehend it, but the offender failed to stop. A coordinated response between Operation Ludlow members and the Drone Unit led to the vehicle being located driving south on the Stuart Highway, where a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed after a short pursuit.

The 19-year-old male was arrested and charged with multiple traffic offences.

The 23-year-old female offender was not located at the scene.
