A driver has died following a crash in the state's south today.
About 5.50pm today (Friday 15 November 2024), emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, Bowning, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to The Hume Police District arrived at the scene and found a vehicle had left the roadway, hit and tree and was well alight.
A private water tanker passing by worked to extinguish the flame; however, the car was completely destroyed.
The driver died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.
A crime scene has been established an investigation has commenced into the circumstances of the crash.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
