Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses after a man threatened multiple people with a baseball bat and an edged weapon in Darwin's northern suburbs late this afternoon.
The 42-year-old man also threw rocks at people and attempted to run others over while driving a white Suzuki Vitara.
The man is currently in police custody after he was arrested at Wulagi shortly after 5:00pm.
Earlier, the incident started about 4.30pm when police received multiple reports of a disturbance at the Winnellie shops on the Stuart Highway.
The man, armed with a baseball bat, allegedly assaulted a man inside the shops, before attempting to run 2 people over in the carpark and then throwing rocks at a fourth person.
Police received further reports of the same offender driving erratically along Bagot Road and threatening other drivers with an umbrella.
About 4.50pm the man is alleged to have used his vehicle to ram another car at the intersection of Bagot and McMillans Roads.
Further reports were received of the Vitara seen on Vanderlin Drive service road, near the Lee Point roundabout, where it was being driven on the grass verge.
The offender was then seen exiting his vehicle and chasing a female jogger while armed with edged weapons before sitting on the ground and then being apprehended by police about 5.10pm.
