Police are investigating a serious single-vehicle crash on the Mid North Coast today in which a vehicle carrying two children left the road and crashed into metal railing, NSW Police say.
About 5.50am today, officers from Mid North Coast Local Area Command responded to reports of a crash on the Pacific Highway, Kundabung south of Kempsey.
The driver, a 33 year-old-woman, was transferred to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle along with an 11 year-old boy in a serious but stable condition. A five-year-old girl was not injured and was later placed into the care of a family member.
The driver submitted a blood sample for mandatory testing.
Investigations continue and police are appealing to anyone with information to contact police or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police are urging motorists to plan their trips and to take regular rest breaks, particularly in the extensive road work areas on the Pacific Hwy through the Mid North Coast area.
