Police are investigating a series of service station robberies in Melbourne's south overnight.
Investigators believe that a group of five offenders attended a service station on Cranbourne-Frankston Road, Cranbourne about 9.30pm.
Offenders entered the store, jumped the counter and stole cigarettes and cash.
The group fled the scene in a grey Volkswagen Jetta.
No one was physically injured.
It is believed that the same offenders were involved in four additional robberies and burglaries, at the following locations:
- a service station on Dandenong-Frankston Road, Seaford about 9.55pm
- a service station on Ballarto Road, Carrum Downs about 10pm
- a service station on Greens Road, Dandenong South about 11pm
- a service station on Springvale Road, Keysborough about 11.40pm
No one was physically injured during the incidents.
Patrolling officers spotted the Volkswagen, driving near the intersection of South and Chesterville roads in Moorabbin, about 12.40am.
The car took off at a fast rate of speed and was last seen in the vicinity of the Monash Freeway intersection.
Investigators are working to determine if the Volkswagen was stolen.
The investigation remains ongoing.
