Police Probe Shooting, Car Fires in Cumberland PAC

Police have commenced an investigation into a public place shooting and car fires in Sydney's southwest overnight.

About 3.25am (Saturday 22 March 2025), police were called to Crossland Street, Merrylands, following reports of shots fired.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and found multiple shots had been fired into a home.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Police established a crime scene and commenced enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A short time later, police were called to Chiswick Street, South Granville, following reports of a car fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and located three vehicles alight and worked to extinguish the blaze, however the vehicles were destroyed.

Police established a second crime scene at that location and the vehicles will be forensically examined by specialist police.

Police believe the two incidents are linked.
