Police Probe Sudden Deaths In Millaa Millaa

Police will prepare a report for the coroner following the non-suspicious death of two men at Millaa Millaa Falls this morning, July 16.

Emergency services were called just before 9am in relation to two swimmers who walked into the water to go swimming and failed to surface.

A search and rescue operation was immediately launched involving police, swift water rescue and the Rescue 510 helicopter.

Two men, aged 28 and 29, were located in the water around 12pm and were declared deceased a short time later.

A 27-year-old Cairns North man, who was also at the Falls at the time, was not physically injured.

It is understood all three men are known to each other.

Investigations are continuing.
