Police have charged a man following the alleged assault and robbery of two men at Surfers Paradise in the early hours of yesterday morning (June 2).
It will be alleged that around 2am, a 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old man were walking back to their hotel, on the corner of Elkhorn Avenue and Orchid Avenue, when they were followed by a group of people who were not known to them.
The pair ran into the hotel lobby to escape but the group entered the hotel and assaulted them.
Both men's mobile-phones were allegedly stolen by the group who then fled the scene.
Police attended the scene where officers located the two victims, as well as one of the stolen mobile phones damaged at the entrance of the hotel.
The 18-year-old sustained facial injuries and the 20-year-old sustained a hand injury.
Paramedics transported both men to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Following investigations, police arrested a man at a Surfers Paradise unit around 9.00am yesterday morning.
A 20-year-old Currumbin Waters man has now been charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of robbery in company using violence, enter premises and possessing utensils.
He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today, Tuesday June 3.
