Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of wombats were deliberately run over and killed at a camping ground at Kangaroo Valley, NSW police said.
Officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command were called to the Bendeela camping ground this morning (19 September), where they found eight wombats dead.
It’s believed they were deliberately run over between 9.30pm on Friday (18 September) and 8.30am today.
Witnesses told police they saw a white 4WD driving around the area throughout the night; however, no one witnessed the animals being killed.
An investigation into the incident is underway and police are appealing for any further witnesses, or anyone with information, to come forward.
