Police Pursue Driver After North Melbourne Carjacking

Fawkner Divisional Response Unit detectives are investigating an aggravating carjacking and hit-run collision in Melbourne's north last night.

It is believed a man was delivering food along Fleet Street in Somerton, when the driver of a white Toyota Prado crashed into the back of his Toyota Yaris about 8pm.

The driver of the Prado and his passenger got out of the car, threatened the man with a knife and attacked him before stealing his belongings as well as his vehicle.

The 52-year-old Craigieburn victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.

About 20 minutes later, officers were called to a three-vehicle collision involving the same Toyota Prado on Camp Road in Broadmeadows.

The driver of the Toyota fled the scene on foot and.

The occupants of the two other vehicles were not injured.

Investigators have since established the Prado was stolen.

The investigation remains ongoing.
