Police Respond to Fatal Crash in Albury

A man has died following a crash in the states south.

About 7.35pm yesterday (Saturday 7 September 2024), emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash along Urana Road, Jindera, approximately 15km north of Albury.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the male drivers and sole occupants of both vehicles.

A 43-year-old man of one of the vehicles was taken to Albury Wodonga Health, Albury Campus. The man is in a stable condition and has undergone mandatory testing where he remains under police guard.

The second driver - 41-year-old man – was trapped in the vehicle until released at 9.40pm. He died a short time later on route to Albury Airport where he was due to be airlifted to a medical facility.

Officers from Murray River Police District established a crime scene which is being examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Urana Road is currently closed in both directions and is expected to remain a crime scene for a considerable amount of time. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
