Police Respond to Fatal Crash in Central Desert

Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred earlier today in the Central Desert Region.

Around 2:50pm, Emergency Services received reports that a sedan carrying 5 people had crash on the Tanami Road, 20Km from the Stuart Highway intersection.

NT Police, NT Fire and Rescue Service and St John Ambulance attended the scene where a male and female were declared deceased.

The remaining 3 occupants, were conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.

A crime scene was declared and the road is currently closed in both direction. Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the remainder of the night. A diversion is expected to be set up later this evening.

The Major Crash Investigation Unit has carriage of the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
