Police Respond to Fatal Crash in Uki, Tweed-Byron

A motorcycle rider has died after a two-vehicle crash in state's north yesterday.

About 2.20pm yesterday (Saturday 15 March 2025), emergency services were called Kyogle Road, Uki, approximately 42km south west of Tweed Heads, following reports of a two vehicle crash.

Officers attached to Tweed-Byron Police District were told a Ute and a motorcycle have collided before the rider was ejected from the motorcycle.

The rider – a 35-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver – a 52-year-old man – was subject to a roadside breath test, returned with a negative result.

He was taken to Murwillumbah District Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the incident has commenced.

Both vehicles were seized to be forensically examined.

Just after 7.15pm on the same day, police were informed that the rider has died at the hospital.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
