Police Responding To Traffic Incident At Newtown

Police are appealing for the driver of a vehicle involved in an incident outside a Newtown childcare centre on February 7 to contact them.

At approximately 3.30pm the child was leaving the centre on Gladstone Street when she wandered away from her parent and onto the road.

An unknown vehicle drove past, making contact with the child, before driving off.

The child received a minor injury to her foot.

The male driver is described as a middle aged with grey hair and glasses and was driving a black or midnight blue coloured sedan.

The driver may not be aware that his vehicle came in contact with the child or that the child received a minor injury.

Investigators are urging the driver or anyone else who may have witnessed the incident to contact police.
