Police are seeking public assistance to identify a man who made threats to kill a security guard in Springvale last month.
It is believed three males entered a supermarket on Springvale Road on Tuesday 23 June about 5.15pm.
Investigators were told the trio became verbally abusive to a staff member after they were denied the purchase of cigarettes when unable to produce proof of age identification.
A security guard intervened and one of the males threatened to kill him before the three fled on foot.
The man is perceived to be African in appearance and of slim build.
He was wearing a blue and white hoodie, black beanie, beige pants and black shoes at the time.
Investigators have released an image of a male that may be able to assist with their enquiries.
Anyone who recognises the male or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
