Police are currently searching for and appealing for public assistance to help locate missing girl Sumaye.
The 12-year-old was last seen in Princess Hill about 10pm last night.
Police and family have concerns for Sumaye's welfare due to her age and her disappearance being extremely out of character.
Sumaye is Middle Eastern in appearance with a thin build.
She was last seen wearing a hijab and leopard print pyjamas.
Investigators have released an image of Sumaye in the hope someone recognises her and can provide information regarding her current whereabouts.
She is most likely travelling on foot in the Princess Hill, Parkville or Carlton areas.
Anyone who sights Sumaye is urged to call '000'.
