Police Seek Info on Child Approach in South Albury

Police are appealing for assistance after a child was approached by two strangers during an incident in the state's south.

Police were told about 7pm yesterday (Sunday 19 January 2025), a 10-year-old boy was sitting on the riverbank in Noreuil Park Foreshore, South Albury, when he was approached by an unknown female who took him by the wrist and walked him over to a man sitting at a bench.

The boy managed to pull free and ran back to his mother.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District attended the scene and commenced an investigation.

The female is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged between 35-45 and was wearing black shorts with a swimming top described as orange, pink and purple with a wavy line design.

The male is described as Caucasian, aged between 35-45, tall, with blonde hair and was wearing a white shirt, black shorts and had a tattoo on his arm.

Murray River Police District Crime Manager Detective Chief Inspector Jy Brown is urging anyone with information to come forward.

"We know the foreshore is a popular location for locals and visitors and we are appealing for members of the public who were in the area at the time and may have taken mobile phone footage or images, which may feature the male and female described in the background. We are also appealing for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward to assist in the investigation," Detective Chief Inspector Jy Brown said.
