Police are appealing for information after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Sydney's south.
About 2:05pm yesterday (Friday 5 July 2024), emergency services were called to the intersection of Bigge Street and Elizabeth Drive, Liverpool, after a woman was struck by a Grey Subaru Impreza.
The vehicle failed to stop and then collided with a pole, with the pedestrian thrown a short distance.
The male driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene in a taxi.
Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command attended and found a 31-year-old woman with serious head injuries.
She was taken to Liverpool Hospital where she underwent surgery.
A crime scene was established, with officers attached to the Metropolitan and Southern Crash Investigation Unit commencing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The vehicle has been seized.
