About 3.30am (Friday 2 August 2024), five males forced entry into a home on Begonia Street, South Tamworth.

Police were told the occupant – a 90-year-old man – confronted the males, when he was assaulted twice on his legs with a metal bar and fell over, before the males demanded his car keys.

The group fled the location with car keys, a wallet, a watch, a mobile phone, and a Toyota Corolla.

The 90-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries and the other man was treated for shock.
