Police are appealing for public assistance following a carjacking in the state's Central West yesterday.
About 6pm (Thursday 5 August 2021), a 20-year-old man stopped his Toyota HiAce van on the side of the Mitchell Highway in Lucknow, to inspect goods to purchase, when an unknown male fled the scene in the van.
Police have been told that the 20-year-old man attempted to stop the unknown man before being punched, causing him to fall to the ground. The man sustained minor injuries and was taken to Bathurst Hospital for treatment.
Officers attached to Central West Police District were notified of the incident and have commenced an investigation.
The vehicle was located a short time later on Spring Hill Road in Millthorpe and was seized for forensic examination.
Police would also like to speak to a man described as being in his 30s, of medium build wearing a black hooded jumper and cap.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dashcam footage to come forward.
