Police Seek Information After Norlane Shooting

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are appealing for public assistance following a non-fatal shooting in Norlane on Sunday night.

Emergency services responded to reports of a man located with a gunshot wound near the intersection of Alkira and Yooringa avenues shortly before 11pm on Sunday, 17 November.

The man, a 47-year-old of no fixed place of address, was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police believe he was shot on a nearby oval at Evans Reserve around 10.30pm

He lay there for about thirty minutes, before managed to knock on the door of a nearby house stating he'd been shot and needed help. A woman inside at the home at the time called Triple Zero.

The victim then left on foot, before calling Triple Zero himself from a payphone on Alkira Avenue.

After reviewing nearby CCTV, police are aware there were a number of people in the area at the time, both on bikes and on foot.

They are particularly keen to speak to these people and are encouraging them to come forward and contact police.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

Quotes attributable to Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Ross Adams, Armed Crime Squad:

"Having reviewed CCTV in the area, we know there were a number of people both on foot and on bicycles in the area at the time.

"We're really keen to speak to those people - even as witnesses. There might be something you noticed that night that seemed unusual, or even something you think might be inconsequential.

"This reckless use of a firearm has left one man with potentially life changing injuries. We are keen to speak to anyone who has knowledge of who was involved and what the motivation for the shooting might have been.

"Any indiscriminate use of a firearm is concerning for police, and we will do absolutely everything in our power to bring those involved before the court."
